This year, our national conference returns in person!

#THRIVE2023 A Home and Healing for Every Child will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 13 and 14 November 2023.

THRIVE National Permanency Conference has been delivered nationally since 2017, to call on government from each jurisdiction and federally to report on their commitment  made in 2016 to prioritise permanency for children in care.

Post pandemic and in this economic climate, we are hearing from government, the sector, carers and those with lived experience from around Australia about the shortage of family-based homes and resources for children. We’ve all seen the headlines regarding motels and residential group settings instead of homes for kids and we know, like us, so many are trying to change this. Let’s come together to find a solution.

Kids don’t belong in institutions, and should never be in situations that put them at further risk.  How can families be better supported to remain together? What can be done about over-representation of Aboriginal children in care? Are there innovative foster carer solutions? How can the system support children? What healing options are available for children to heal from trauma? Where does education and mental health fit in? What does government have to say?

Find out by taking part in this national summit. This two-day conference is not an information download. It is an opportunity to meet at the table with people from around the country, also invested in contributing to positive change for our children and young people.

Insights from the conference will contribute to the National Recommendations Paper which is presented to government around Australia in November.
