As the Executive Director of Out of Home Care for the Department for Child Protection, Sue Barr has oversight for all types of care for children and young people once they enter the child protection system. This includes foster care, kinship/relative care and non-family based care such as residential care.

Sue has extensive experience working in social services over the past 30 years, including a variety of roles focusing on youth justice, family and youth services and social policy.

Sue re-joined the department in 2017, working as a Regional Director for the northern area of the state before being appointed to her current role 12 months ago.

She is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people and ensuring all children and young people in the care system have the best possible experience, giving them opportunities to thrive and successfully transition into adulthood.
